La Moye Prison hold all prisoners detained on the island of Jersey

There is only one prison on Jersey which is at La Moye. In this prison they have to provide facilities for young offenders, for women and for vulnerable prisoners. They therefore end up having four distinct areas within the jail.

La Moye Prison is meant to hold about 150 prisoners but there are currently about 170, with 25 serving sentences in the UK because of overcrowding on the island.

Health care at La Moye Prison is provided by a GP practice, a doctor visits every morning except Sundays.
The prison employs three health care officers who are all registered nurses, and a prison nurse who also performs a social welfare role. A psychotherapist is employed part time.

The H&SS provide sessional input to the prison from the Alcohol and Drug Service, and a nurse who specialises in forensic mental health issues. A consultant psychiatrist is employed by the prison on a sessional basis. All inmates can be referred to specific hospital services as needed.
